I came across a poll that AC contrators were asked and was wondering if theres any truth to it? The results from the poll stated that units over 14 seer tend to break down more offen then units between 10 and 14 seer. Reason being higher technology on the higher seer units and more parts that can go bad. Have you pro's out there find this to be true? :)

Unit breakdowns tend to be directly proportional to installation shortcuts.
Atleast it always seems this way to me.

I agree with Shank.
Install to what they say in the manual of install. If it's a poor install, then yes, you will have problems.
