I'm redoing my whole system but whould like to keep the main trunk line if possible. My vents are showing dirt around them so I whould like to clean the trunck line some how if possible so every thing is clean and dust free? It's made out of duct board with yellow insulation on the inside. Is there any way to clean it or should I just have it replaced?

replace it...and if you don't cheap out, get a metal insulated trunkline. then you won't have to replace it again.

ductboard and flex are garbage and used for one reason only. they are cheap. you get what you pay for. make sure it's sized right as well.

I'm not cheaping out I know the tin is better and more exspensive, but I will be selling this house in less then 4 years and tin won't add any more value to my house so it whould be a waste of money! ;)

where do you think the fiberglass went that use to be in the duct. I heard, but can't swear to it, that California has outlawed that stuff, they are usually the first to do safety issues like asbestos abatement... those glass fibers I'll bet are up to no good. That stuff makes me sneeze like crazy. If the buyer has a good inspector he'll warn them about that stuff...Do you really want to breathe those fibers for 4 years? I don't think it's worth the health risk especially if you have kids... I don't know of anyone that uses the stuff anymore. Even the high velocity units are going to sheet metal...Oh... insulate the outside of the duct instead also, ductliner isn't good to breathe either and metal is less turbulent and easy to clean as well!
