on the bath faucet, when i pull up that lever to stop the flow of water so that the shower head would turn on, a great amount of water still streams through the shower faucet and the shower head only streams out a little bit of water. can anyone please help me? :wall: :wall:

YE5TER, Welcome to the DIY Forums.
It is the diverter that is bad. They have a coating or an "O" ring that seals when you pull the handle up. You will probably want to just replace the spout. There are two types of spouts. One screws on to a pipe coming out of the wall. The other type is held on by an allen screw under the spout. You can look under the spout near the tub wall and if there is a slot, there is an allen screw up in the slot. Remove the screw and pull the spout off and replace it. Good luck.

I have the same problem. However, I just replaced the spout yesterday. The old spout did not suffer the same problem. It's just the new one after the installation. The spout is the type with a setscrew. I will check again, but I believe the o-ring was in place. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any and all help.

bloodbath, Welcome to the DIY Forums.
YE5TER's problem was the diverter in the spout. If you bought a new spout and the diverter is not working, then I would take it back to the store. The diverters are set at the factory and thats why it is easier to replace the whole spout than it is to try and fix the diverter. Good luck.

Thanks for your help and the warm welcome. I'm going to get a new spout tomorrow and try it out. I hope that solves the problem. Oh, by the way, it appears that the condition has worsened, Now, no water seems to be diverted to the shower head.
