Need help...

Toilet bowl not holding water level... Home was empty for about a year. Water was turned off until last week. Pipes were drained and toilets flushed to keep pipes from freezing (we're in ohio)... Had water and heat turned on and now the toilet bowl won't hold the water level... The little water that remained in the bottom of the bowl after draining pipes and flushing toilets did freeze. Anyone have any ideas as to why water level in the bowl is not being maintained... Everything else on the toilet works fine...

I hate to say this but if there was any water in the bowl after you turned the water off it probably froze and cracked the bowl; thats where your water is going. Flushing a toilet does not get all the water out. What you should do is add RV antifreeze to anything that has a trap. Sorry.

Rlorand,

Did you resolve your problem? I don't think freezing has been a problem in my house, but my bowl doesn't hold its water level either.

Lady Dee,
If your toilet has not frozen, then you may just have a crack in the trap that is letting water go out. It can go down the drain and you would not think you have a leak because water would not show up anywhere.
