I ripped out all cabinets and put ceramic tiles down before installing new floor cabinets.

Does the (hidden under cabinets) perimeter of the tiles against the wall need caulking or can I just leave an empty gap?

Thanks to all:)

Depends on where you live. I'm in the upper midwest and did the same thing, but with hardwood flooring -- what I've found now that winter is here, is that cold air seeps up from the basement via that gap along the outside wall. Also, I don't know if you have a problem with mice, but I know others who have lamented not filling the gap because it gives mice an easy/secret space to creep into food heaven.

It's shouldn't be that tough to caulk. From an aesthetic perspective, it's not necessary to caulk. But from other perspectives, sealing up all holes and gaps (whether visible or not) is always a good idea.

Thanks..wouldn't hurt for the price of a coupla tubes of caulk.

I assume you just tape over the perimeter when grouting to keep it clear and then caulk it after the grouting is complete?
