RO system instaled a couple years ago by contractor. now I found out that the membane filter has been flushed continuously, the water goes down the drain and wasted. Does any member can advise me what can I do to correct the waste. :)

There is no solution. The amount of water used by the RO membrane is pretty minimal. I think the waste ratio is something like 3 to 1. One Gallon of purified water and 3 gallons down the drain. The average house uses about one gallon of purified water per day. A few gallons "wasted" is really no big deal. You "waste" about 4 gallons of water everytime you flush the toilet. Water is dirt cheap. Dont worry about it.

RO systems have different ratios of waste but the 3:1 ratio is pretty common. You may hate the idea of wasting water but it is the waste water that cleans your R.O. membrane. Think of the membrane as a strainer in your kitchen. All the stuff that is filtered out of the water is stuck on the outside of the membrane which can clog it. The waste water rinses off the outside of the membrane carrying the bad stuff away.

On the good side the R.O. system is only "wasting" when it makes filtered water for you. It does not flush water down the drain when you are away on vacation.

Any filtration system has a limited life span. R.O. systems generally have a membrane and 2-4 additional filters. The membrane is the expensive one and needs to be replaced after several years. The other filters need to be changed much more often (some as often as every 3 months). Do a search online for your system and find out what maintenance is needed.
