Hi, I plan to use VOIP instead of Bell for my phone service. If I switch to VOIP, the way I dial is different, even local number have to add '1' at the beginning. I have a security system connect to monitor centre through the phone line. I assume there is a phone number pre-set in the system so it can communicate with the monitor centre. Is it possible to change this number by myself? I called Protectron and I was told if they sent somebody to change, they will charge $79/hr. And not guarantee it works. I still have 20-months term with them and I've ordered my VOIP... My security system is ADEMCO 4110xmp..

The reason that they said that will not guarentee that it will work is because there are numerout problems with VOIP working with alarm system dialers (see the FAQ for this forum).
Yes, you can change this phone number yourself. First you need to extract the installer code from the system (which isn't a big deal unless they have installer lockout active on this system, again see the FAQ). Once in program mode, keying #20 will read back the installer/master code.
Once you are in program mode, key *41 [new phone number]*. If there is a secondary number, key *42 [new phone number]*. Exit with *99. That should do it. Just realize, that alarm communication over VOIP is kind of hit or miss; it may work just fine, or it may frustrate you.

Hi, one more question. How can I read the pre-set phone number inside it? Is it the same thing as installer/master code you are talking about?

No, the master/installer code is the one that gives one access to the systems programming, and sets secondary user codes. To go into program one keys in [master/installer code] + 8 +0.
To read the existing phone number, once in program mode, key in #41 and #42 and the keypad will read back the number 1 digit at a time.

Hi, Thank you very much. I got it. Guess what? I don't need to change it at all. They are 1-800 numbers... Really learn something even first time visit this website.
