I'm experiencing a "Communications" Trouble with my installed DSC 832. The system has been in service for about 2 years and the last alarm received by the Central Station was about 2 months ago. No changes have been made to the telephone line(s) (that I'm aware). Dialtone is present at the PC1050 terminal block. When alarm reporting is attempted, I'm able to hear dialing and central stations tones. Telephone line stays in "In Use" for approx. +/- 7 minutes. Central Station sees incoming call(s) (multiple attempts), but no alarm. I have a fax line in the house and swapped the connection from my primary line over to the fax line and that didn't help. I've tried everything I can think of and I'm at a loss. It seems that the system is reaching the central station, but handshake is not succerssful. (At this point I'm thinking either software/programming or motherboard problem). Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

If there have been no changes to the system or telephone lines, and it seems to be dialing the correct number, but is not connecting, I'd guess to check the format it's sending (program section 360). Other than that, the only thing I can think of is to do a power down and restart. It could be some odd firmware glitch is keeping the dialer from "hearing" the handshake tones.

Thanks for the suggestion. Checked program section 360 and the programming appears to be correct (programmed as 03 and 03). All rules for Contact ID are being followed. Powered down and reset system, but trouble remains.

Replaced the PC5010 circuit board and the system is back online without any trouble.
