We have 12 oak waterbed drawers which I would like my husband to convert
to a dresser or a bench with storage beneath. They come in sections of 3 drawers together. Any IDeas?

Shouldn't really be to big of a deal to build a carcass to fit the drawers. Generally, it's done the other way around, but with careful planning and measurement, it ought to be ok. If just the faces of the drawers are oak, how about building the dresser, then attaching the faces to drawers made for the piece?

I agree with Chris, build a dresser with accurate measurements for drawers figured in. Not wanting to question you on this, but are you sure the drawers are solid oak. I have had oak waterbeds before, and they are primarily constructed of compressed wood with an oak finish. If you are lucky enough to have solid oak, then the dresser is a great idea. If they are oak finished pressed wood, then you can't turn lead to gold.
