How do I hang up a scalloped valance with panel curtains for a window? There are no instructions...I'm guessing the valance needs it's own rod...but, how do I determine where to place it?

Please help...thanks!

You don't say what kind of heading they have. If they're rodpockets (pockets at/near the top) to shir on a rod, you can get a basic double rod and the valance goes on the front one. If the panels traverse you could get a double traverse rod, which has a rod in front for a valance. These double styles get mounted as if they were one rod and easiest. Or get a single traverse rod and get a valance rod which goes in front and should project 2 or 3" further out than the traverse rod and be slightly wider. Check out Penney hardware (http://www4.jcpenney.com/jcp/categoryall.aspx?DeptID=25437&CatID=28419&cmCatLevel=3) to see them.

yep, and make sure that when you're standing as far away as possible, you can't see the tops of the panels peaking out over the top of the valance! ie: make sure you hang the valance high enough! (the valance rod doesn't have to be hung at the exact same height as the drapery rod - it can, & probably should be, placed a little (or a lot - if you want the window to appear taller) higher than the drapery rod.
