Hello everyone,

Can anyone help me. I bought a new home and it had an alarm system in place, but no code was given to me. On the box in the basement it says ADT Focus 32 and the numeric panel at the front door says DSC.

I plugged the fist size adapter into the outlet and I heard several beeps....then came the very loud audible siren. I quickly opened the panel and pulled the power cord off of the battery.

My question is this...Is there a way to completely reset my system and program a new code into the panel. I do not want it monitored I just want to be able to arm and disarm the system and have it goes off when it's armed.

I realize that there are trillions of threads but I'm hoping someone has a very quick answer for me.

P.S. a step by step would be really appreciated. Hope all is well.

What ADT markets as a Focus 32 is (I think) a modified version of a DSC Power 832 system (PC5010). It sounds like the darned thing was powered down either armed, or in alarm. This bites, because if it wasn't, you would have a pretty good chance of getting into it to change the master code without defaulting the panel.

Do you have _any_ information as to what zones are set to do what?

Good Morning, and thanks for the fast reply,

I opened the box and on the board it does say PC5010. I connected the battery again and plugged it in. I ran upstairs and the red armed light was on.

With regards to "what zones do what" I am uncertain...I have never used the alarm. The only thing I know is that there are 5 points being monitored...2 motions and 3 contacts. Sorry! Can you Help?

P.S. The siren went off so I unplugged everything again.

Ok, this bites, because you will have to default the whole program (hopefully they did not set the installer lockout feature).

Step 1 - Remove AC and battery from the panel.
Step 2 - Remove all wires from the Zone 1 and PGM1 terminals.
Step 3 - With a piece of wire short the Zone 1 terminal to the PGM1 terminal.
Step 4 - Apply AC power to the main panel.
Step 5 - When Zone Light 1 is lit on the keypad the default is complete.
Step 6 - Remove AC power from the control
Step 7 - Reconnect all original wiring and power up the control.

If this is a typical ADT installation all of the zones will probably show as open.

What comes next, depends on whether you have a LED keypad or an LCD keypad....

You have over estimated my abilities...lol. If I do that I will set the house ablaze. Thanks for your help anyway. If there is a easier way please let me know. Hope all is well.

Sorry, there is no easier way, short of lucky guessing the disarm code. DSC is _very_ hard to access if you don't have the codes.

Those instructions are a cut and paste from the installer manual. It's a 12 volt system.

Your only other options are to call ADT or another installer who may be able to enter the panel with a computer and reset it that way (and that's not a guarentee); or replace the motherboard and setup from scratch.

You will neet the installation manual. Just websearch using the phrase "DSC PC5010 installer manual".

Give the threads concerning DSC Power Series (PC1555/Power 632; PC 5010/Power 832) a read. This system comes up pretty frequently, and there aren't a lot of differences with the ADT modified version.

The only one that might be an issue is that the installer code may default to 6321 instead of 5555.
