I moved into a home with heat pump last year, and during the winter it runs continously once the temperature set on the thermostat is reached. Also, it gets a lot warmer upstairs as it contiously runs. Even if it set at lets say 72, then a seperate tempature thermomitor in my bedroom registers at least 5 degrees higher. While the downstairs stays cooler, which is why I figure it is keeping the thermostat out of whack in cooling the whole house. And, it runs on Aux heat even when the set temp is reached.
Is there some sort of different control I can use to control the thermostat better or the unit itself when it's 14 to 30ish degrees outside? It's costing me a small fortune. Thanks for any help.
By the way, it's a Lennox system.

Don't know about all you issues, but at 14 degrees outside the HP is going to run all the time.

Have you tried to close down some the upstairs registers. just a little. to put more heat down stairs.
it runs on Aux heat even when the set temp is reached.
Id say check out the wire set up to the tstat and in the tstat there for sure.
ED ;)
