Hello,

We are in the process of having our house painted. I was just wondering is it customary to tip on top of the final quote. They are doing a good job and detail oriented. If tipping is customary, Is it usually a % based or flat $ based? Final quote is around $3000.

Thanks.

Welcome to the forums

Most folks don't tip the contractors or their help but it is a nice gesture especially when a job is well done. Ocasionally I worked on homes where the homeowners brought pizza for lunch and even a few that took all the trades out for lunch. When my oldest son was 12-13 yr old he often got tips from my customers but then thats another story. :)

Tips are not expected nor required. If you feel like tipping, give it to the employees, not the owner. The owner should be making a decent profit from the job, and the employees will be pleasantly surprised at the gesture, especially at this time of the year. A little extra for Xmas is always nice.

The best tip a contractor can ever get:
Tell your friends. Referrals are the best source of leads for any contractor.

Yup, not expected or required
But very much appreciated
Do give it to each of the worker bees if you decide to tip

Can I get an "Amen" from the congregation?
ALL: A-men!
