Hello,
I have noticed that when I put the heater on, I am not getting hot air from the vents. It is not cold, but it doesn't heat up the house or keep it warm. When the air conditioner is switched to cool, it seems to work okay. From what I could tell. It is getting real close to winter and I have a 3yr old that has asthma and I can't seem to get the chill out of the house in the middle of the night. Can someone possibly tell me what might be causing cool air to come out of the vent instead of hot air when the heater is on?

do you know what type of heating system you have?? Gas. electric. heat pump??

I have an electric air conditioner where the unit is outside. It is not gas and is not a heat pump. I live in a five bedroom mobile home. Last year we had problems with duct work coming loose. I have checked under the house and the duct work looks fine now.

I feel the most you can do is check and make sure the breakers are all in their normal position and make sure your filter is clean. Other than that you should make a service call.

What type of furnace do you have? Gas or Electric?

If the unit is a gas fired furnace the fan limit may be defective. I would need more info.

if what you say is accurate, that you have no heatpump, that you have no other fueled type of furnance, i can, as well as others, guess that you have an electric air handler. these guys have electric heat strips that turn on when you turn the thermostadt up in the heating mode. sometimes these can go bad, as well as several other things. these are really items that should be taken care of by a really well respected heating and air company in your area.
for the most part it should be pretty easy for the tech to figure out the problem, just before you call try to have as much info of the system, inside and out, so that they will try to put on the truck the parts they may need before they come out. hopefully this may help.
