(I apologize for re-posting here; I posted this in Applicances forum and did not generate any responses.)
I pulled out my dishwasher after pulling out my countertop and cabinets. I saw that the wall where the dishwasher was set againt has cracked and peeled. This, I believe was due to the heat and moisture from the dishwasher.
When ready to put a new dishwasher in, what do people normally do to protect that piece of the wall where the dishwasher is pushed against? I have not seen books or videos of home improvement where pros talk about what to put behind the dishwasher.
Thanks
fh

fh2000,
There is nothing that is placed back there. Usually good paint and that is why you have not found anything in books regarding that area.
Hope this helps!

The dishwasher should have insulation that came with the unit on the top, sides and back. That insulation is mainly for sound proofing. I'm guessing you probably dont have enough or any insulation in the wall behind the dishwasher, and the heat form the unit is condensing on the wall. That would be the only source for the moisture, unless you have a leak.
