Hi All
I am installing my old office air con unit in my study at home, It is a split unit with the wall mounted unit placed near the top of the ceiling.
My question is: The outside fan unit, can I install it on top of the roof of the study, as it is a flat roof and would be a perfect spot, A friend of mine told me that the outside unit must be lower than the inside unti. Is this true or can I go ahead and install it on the roof.
Thanks in advance
John

I have not heard of this before..
I'd would look at the install manual, or contact the company that made the unit.
Question, Who putting this in? You will need to be EPA ceritfied to handel the ref in the system.

If this is a what they call a mini split or Ductless type unit than the outdoor unit can be mounted higher than the indoor unit. Try not to exceed 20ft though or you will need to resize your copper lineset as per manufacturers spec's.
