Hello,
Just a quick question regarding the cost to completely replace a home's A/C, heater, and air handler? I know this is an incredibly open question with many potential variables, but I'm just looking for a general range of prices that I could expect to see...we are looking to buy a home that has A/C, heater, etc, that is well over 30 years old, so I could reasonably expect to replace them, but would kind of like an idea of what kind of price range I'd be getting myself into and I can't seem to find the information anywhere. First home, etc, so not really sure how to go about getting that information any other way.

Oh, if it matters, home is 1800 sq. ft., about 1100 of which is the main floor, 700 basement, and it is in Minnesota.

Thank you.

Where in MN are you? Rochester here.

Really hard to put a price on it since there is alot of things to look at.

I had a new system put in last year, it was near $4,000.

Do get a few bids from dealers.. Also make sure they do a manual j on the home to get the right size equipement on the home.

If you ahve any questions, please feel to write back.

Jay,
thanks for the info, that really helped. Oh, and I'm in Minneapolis.

I was just trying to get in the ballpark since I've never owned a house before or had to price anything like that and wanted to know before I put an offer in on the house that I mentioned. I was mainly trying to sort out if this is normally a $1-2k job, ~$5k, or approaching the $10k mark and above so that I can take that into consideration, so your comments certainly help me get an idea.

Thanks,
Steve

in 2003 for a 1200 sq ft house in houston, tx i got my ac condenser? (the big loud outside unit) replaced and the old one hauled away for $1000 everything included...
but shop around, the highest guesstimate i got was nearly $3k for the same thing...and that company kept calling back trying to set up an appointment

The price would be 5500-6500 depending on the size of the house. This would be with a 90% furnace and a 14 Seer a/c Unit. Any lower then that beware!!!!!!
