I am remodeling a kitchen and replacing two downdraft venting ovens with a tradition stove that will have a microwave with recirculating vent above. How do I cap off the old downdraft vents to seal them properly?

Also - I want to cap off a heat register that was under the old cabinets and will be under the new cabinets as wells since it will be pretty useless. How do I do this?

You can go to a home center and get a cap.. I think it maybe 8 or 6" messure.. Ask the store if they can crimp that cap so it can fit into the pipe..

Put some caulking around the cap to seal it, and put in sheet metal screws.

As for the heat vent under the cabinet, was the toekick cut out before?

If not, you can cut out the toekick, and put in a vent under there. I am sure you'll like the warmth on your toes in the winter!
