I have curtain made for a window but now have a dilemma on how to put it up. The window is of this (http://www.bluffton.edu/~sullivanm/jmemanu/window.jpg) shape. (Obviously, this is the exterior look and I am trying to put the curtain on the interior). The curtain length is from the bottom of the top semi-circle to the floor and is not intended to cover the top semi-circle. I have sheer for this window and I have valance as well.
The problem is this - The window is 80" wide and I think I need center brackets. But there is no dry wall or wooden surface on this window that I can attach the center bracket to. You can see that in the window. One option I have is to hang the curtain rod above the semi circle of the window but then, the curtain wont reach the window sill. I could start half way on the semi-circle and make the curtains reach the sill but my wife thinks leaving only half the semi-circle open will not look good. Any ideas?

dev32, Welcome to the DIY Forums.
I am not the expert in this field, however, a lot would depend on the weight of the drapes you are installing and the strength of the curtain rod you have. A heavy duty rod will support a lot of weight even without the center bracket. This would be something you will have to check. Watch this post for the expert opinions and answers. Good luck with your project.

You will need a heavy duty (wrought iron) curtain rod for this window. Some, not all, wrought iron can go up to 8 feet with out a center support. Sounds like you will also need a double bracket to accomadate the curtains and valance. Ona Drapery Hardware is probably the best wrought iron for this window, as it is very strong and you can do a double rod as well.

if you're only using sheers and a valance, you should be fine, as majakdragon said. just be sure to use the proper drywall anchors or whatever fastener is appropriate for the weight. if in doubt, use 2 separate rods, one for the sheer & another for the valance to distribute the weight more.
and definitely do not cover up only half of the semi circle. it's all or nothing. i vote for leaving it exposed, like you planned on.
