Water Heaters - T&P valve burping

My T&P relief valve burps water every time a valve for the dishwasher,shower,or washing machine is run. doesn't do it when house faucets are opened and closed normally. There is also a rattling noise accompanied with this event
Not a bang,but a rattling and the T&P relieves itself and seals itself.
Do i need to just replace the T&P?...

High water pressure and water hammer from rapidly closing valves on appliances may cause the T&P may drip a little water. It is possible your T&P may be a little weak. Replacement may or may not solve your problem. If it doesn't, a pressure regulator probably would.

Thanks Jim. I guess the first thing to do is to change the T&P valve

My small water heater in my shop did that for the last year. A few months ago I shut off the heater, when I turned it back on the valve would not seal when the water got hot inside the tank. I replaced the valve last week and everything is working fine now. :)

The new valve was about $6 at OSH


Funny thing is I shut off the heater because I didn't need it and wanted to save some $$s. Wonder if I saved $5? :confused:
