I've just installed a new electric hot water heater. I am getting a slow leak from the input(cold) and output(hot). When I installed the tubes I put plumbers tape on them. When I took them out to try to reseat them, the "blue" coupler inside was pushed out alittle more on one end.
Question is: Should I put more tape on the threads? I only put 1 or 2 layers on them.
Did I over tighten them?
Any advice would help, I am a rookie, new home owner and anything would help.
Thanks,

Two things may help,
1. go buy two new fitting an try those, when installing my heater the two fittings would not seal no matter what. I bought two new ones and they were fine.
2. make sure to use good plumbers tape and not the cheap stuff sold at Home Depot and such. You can tell the difference between the cheap and good stuff.
Hopefully these may help you.

Thanks for the advice. I did just reseal them with 4-5 wraps of plumbers tame and everything seems to be working just fine.....for now anyway.!!
