I recently moved into a 16-year old condo. However, I don't have a manual to the HVAC system nor do I have a clue as to how it works. The only thing I've done is installed a digital Honeywell thermostat (the kind with the extra-large LCD). When I set it to heat or cool, I can hear the fans kick in. I didn't think my place had air conditioning, but something's making noise when I try it.

In any case, I'm unsure whether this is gas or electric powered, but it looks like this:

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Looks like a 80% gas forced air furnace. I don't see any refrigerant lines or a condensate drain so it more than likely don't have a/c. If you hooked up the "G" wire to the "G" terminal on the stat then you are getting the high speed of the blower when you put it in a/c mode.

How did you wire up the t-stat?

What model of t-stat do you have?

Are you not getting heat?

It's an older gas furnace, less than 80%..

You can take another shot of upper part of the furnace, the ductwork... I don't see the lines. but it looks like it's a casing for a/c coil.

When you have your local service tech come in to clean and adjust the burners/check your thermostat install and unit operation, get him to show you around the unit a bit. It is darn good for a HO to know all they can about their heating unit, make sure and record the model and serial numbers for future reference and make sure you know where the gas shutoff and electrical power shutoff is at.
