Hi. Does anyone have American Home Shield? They claim to fix basically any appliance if it breaks including the heating/air conditioning system within a $1,500 limit. If you have experience with this insurance compnay, I would like to know if you think it is worth it.
They charge about $40 a month and replace your oven, fridge, dishwasher, washer, dryer, furnace, built in microwave, etc... were it to break for a $45 fee per appliance/service call.
But the oil question is, do you think it is smart for us to be doing what we are doing, which is, getting oil from gypsy oil companies for cheaper than regular oil companies that offer contracts. We are getting an annual tune up with an independant guy and just praying that if anything ever goes wrong with the heating system, that American Home Shield will cover it. (Even though the $1,500 limit scares us) Thanks! :D

No decent service contrator will do work for them. I would run far & fast. If you are happy with your independent service person, keep him. Good service people are hard to find. Often I read of homeowners who get tired of paying call, after call, after call & still their problem is not fixed by the home warranty company's servicer. They end up going to another service company, paying for it out of pocket & getting the problem resolved.

You may want to verify they will replace all those appliances you mentioned in your post. They will repair. If you think you can hand them $40 & you get a new fridge.......good luck

I agree with Grady..
Company I used to work for, we stopped dong work for them.. They were VERY cheap.. They wanted the cheapest parts.. ect.. and also we had hard time getting money from them.
When I brought our house last fall, the realitor said not to waste my time/money on them.. they are worthless company.. I knew that.. I told him about the company I used to work for, and he said he had other people had trouble..
So be best to do liek Grady said.
