My heat pumps outside fan doesn't start up when the compressor goes on, but if i give it a tiny push with a stick, it runs just great with both heat and airconditioning.

So I had a repair man come by. He checked the capacitor and said it was fine, but to fix the fan motor would be 700 to 800 dollars.

If it is the fan motor i can replace that, but could it be another problem? and is 700 to 800 dollars a fair price, or am I getting it stuck too?

thanks

it could be the start windings in the motor. check the wires going to the motor and make sure none of them are broke.

prices vary across the country.

How old is it?
