I have a 6 month old Rheem heat pump. This heat pump is only getting the inside of my house up to a max. of 68 degrees even if it is only 50 degrees outside. I have checked the air temp coming out of the supply registers and the air is only 68 degrees should'nt this air be warmer.

you should see a 35 degree temp difference. Either your compressor has quit or your out of gas or the Reversing valve isn't wired ...there can be a thousand different things. If its only 6 MO. old the installer should gauranty his work anyway....Unless he finds you hit the control wire with a weed wacker or something like that.... :eek:Even still, the stage two electric strip heaters should have kicked in when the inside temp fell 2 degrees below set point, this provide heat in the emergency mode as well,... have him check that also.... It sounds like that part of the unit wasn't tested, or just too hot during the install time...it could have been an oversite.
