I'm replacing the old worn-out weather seal on my exterior door and want something that works well to keep out driven rain and drafts. The door is wood and so is the jamb, (older house). The old seal worked pretty well, it was rigid aluminum with an attached hollow vinyl seal which is screwed or nailed onto the door stop. Problem with this old seal is the vinyl has a limited range of adapting to the door surface when there is slight warpage due to seasonal changes. Secondly, vinyl doesn't stay very flexible and in time takes a set or flattens out. But, I like this application in that the seal is at the door surface and keeps the rain on the outter surface while any foam seal application allows moisture into the jamb area, especially in the hinge side where there's a better chance of water intrusion. Any help is much appeciated, thanks.
