Hi all,
I will try and give all the info that I have and maybe someone can help me out.
I have a speedaire gas powered portable air compressor.
model #4B224A
5 hp
8 gallon
9 cfm @ 90 psi
8.5 cfm @ 125 psi
I only use a 3/8 air drill with it. The drill is rated at 4 cfm. The drill will not run non stop before I start losing pressure all the way down to 50 psi. Is this normal or should the compressor handle the drill non stop. I thought that it should hand 2 of those drills non stop since it is rated at 9cfm.
If I do have a problem with the compressor could someone give me some troubleshooting tips. I have tried to find a tech manual on web with no luck.
Could anyone give me any input where to go or what to do or is that the normal operation.
Thanks,
Bruce

Assuming the drills are working properly.
Check the inlet filters.
I think some Gas powered compressors had a low or hi RPM throttle control. is it set on low ?
I would try to confirm that the pump is turning at the proper speed.

Maybe the pressure switch that tells the compressor to turn back on is set too low. The cfm shouldn't be a problem.
