I got this tractor given to me about 2 years ago, and finally got some tinkering time on it. It now runs, which has inspired me to fix some of the other things it needs. Since I don't have the old battery, and no manual, I was wondering what the correct spec is for this tractor? It's a little Bolens Lawn tractor from I'm guessing the mid 1970's? with a sheet metal frame, 8 HP Briggs, and 3 speed tranny. I'm used to the full sized car batteries in my Deeres, and the little space under the seat won't hold one of those.

It probably takes a standard lawn and garden tractor battery - 12V. One size fits all. Should be available at any big box store after Christmas - when they bring out the spring / summer items. Some may have them in stock now.

I did a little checking, and it appears that the correct battery is a 12N9-4B-1.
Probably about 100-110 CCA.
