we just bought a house with really gross countertops. The house is a rehab project and we can't afford to do the entire house at one time. I was wondering if we could install granite tiles over the existing laminate countertop and spruce it up a bit untill we have the funds to put in solid granite (maybe 5 years). If this is not possible any other suggestions will be grealty appreciated!!Thanks

If countertop is not the standard roll-edged, preformed top and has square edges, it is possible to tile over the top. Often, it is better to simply start from scratch with a new particleboard slab.

Just a suggestion, and I may be wrong, as it has been a few years since we replaced our countertop......Depending on how much countertop you are thinking of tiling, you may be able to go to HD and get a new laminate faux granite countertop to replace what you have for roughly the same price..........
