If you are doing production drilling in a machine shop Yes.
For most people, No.
You should be concerned with the material that the drill is made out of.
For general purpose drilling, you want the standard twist drill to be made out of high speed steel.
You can coat a nail and drill holes, but its not going to hold up without a strong base.
I have seen some coated drills that bent like pretzels.
