Hi everyone new to this site, based in liverpool in the uk. can anyone advise of what to do if the yale key just turns the cylinder around and around with out opening tjhe door. help needed.

I believe you are talking about a deadbolt since this is a common problem when the cylinder tailpiece is broken or disconnected. Usually the problem starts from wear and tear and it is usually best in this case, depending on the lock, to replace the worn parts, up to and including the cylinder possibly.

Depending on parts availability and quality of the original lock, it may be worth it to simply buy a new one.
