I'm looking for advice for the following problem:

My gas furnace is not blowing hot air. I have set the thermostat to "heat" and have set it higher than normal. Meanwhile, I have check to make sure the pilot is lit and the burners fire on accordingly. Everything seems to working properly, but there is no hot air coming out.

What should I do?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Does the fan run if you witch the t-stat fan switch to "ON"?

If yes, then it could be two things..

-Fan board/control (depends on how old the equipment is)

-lost the winding on the lower speed side.

If no, then have to check power for blower control.

I have tried what you suggested and I can feel cold air coming out. Also, cold air comes out when I set the thermostat to the settings I mentioned before.

Can you get into more detail as to what I need to do? Will be something I could do myself? Do I need to get a professional?

Thanks in advance.

Is the flame staying on the whole time of heat??

When you say cold air coming out of the vent, how cold???

Have you made any changes to the system? New t-stat?? Do you have A/C? IS the outdoor unit NOT running in heat?

Now we know the fan works the way it should.

But we know nothing about what is happening to the flame cycle at the burners. You have go down there, remove the big upper furnace cover with the heat turned up, and tell us if you ever see the burner fire come on, and if so, how long is it on for, and how long is it off for.

when I set the t-stat to a higher temp, the furnace fires on. I can see the burners fire like they should. Since I set the t-stat to about 10 degrees higher than the room temp, the burners stayed on without going off at all. While this is happening, all I can feel is "not-so-hot" air coming out. It is pretty cold. It is not outside temp cold, but it is cold.

Now, the one thing I have discovered is that the outside unit (AC) is working as well, while the t-stat is set to heat. What I have do is to turn off the circuit breakers to the AC. Now, I can feel hot air blowing. Obviously, there is something wrong with the wiring some where. Can you help me pin point the problem? Does this have to do with the t-stat? I had a new one put in the spring time. It is one of those manual ones - Honeywell.

I hope I have provided enough details.

Thanks...

Ok, yes it's at the t-stat.. Remove the t-stat and check on how the wires are hooked up at the subbase.

Y-G-W should have single wire going to it.

Depends on the model of t-stat, you may have to have a jumper from RH to RC, and a single wire from the wall tied to that.

Tell us how you got it wired.

TUrn off ht outdoor unit for now then till we get the figured out.
