I have a Toshiba 54" big screen (6 yrs old). I am getting a crackling sound and the interferance on the picture that goes with it. I have checked the cable connections and all seem fine. My other tv's in the house are fine also. Is this a warning of the box telling me to get a new one? Does this sound as an expensive repair, or maybe just a check-up?
Thanks for your help...

I would check your cable connections again and maybe try using one of your other cable wires from the other tv sets. Interference can be many things. The cable has too many lines running off of it (splitting causes bad reception) or The connections to the cable box and to the TV are loose. Is a VCR connected? Try connecting without the VCR. Unplug the TV for 20 min and plug back in - this sometime resets the picture. Cable lines have a small wire inside them that can bend when screwing onto tv - check to make sure small wire inside screw cap is straight and goes inside little hole in the screw end of the TV set. Good luck, The Ladyfixer.
