Hello Ralph. Welcome to my Gas Appliances topic and the Do-It-Yourself Web Site.

Should be an easy fix. Clean the spark ignitor that does not stop clicking. A fine grit sand paper or finger nail emery board can be used. Clean only enough to remove any small deposits or coatings that may be on it.

Some ignitors require being heated. The heating changes the electrical resistance which turns it off. Cleaning sometimes helps. Be sure electrode is in the flame, if the sparker is the type that sets along side the burner.

Another rare but possible cause is a defective switch, located on top of the valve stem under the knob. Wet or moist switches will also cause continous sparking. Help in the link below.

Retail appliance parts dealers can also help determine what the possible problem may be also. They will need the make, model an serial numbers. Appliance parts dealers are an excellent source for original replacement parts. Dealers are listed in the phone book under appliances.

***Be sure the electrical power to the appliance is turned off, before attempting any repairs. Always check for gas leaks whenever the appliance is moved and/or a repair includes any connection of a gas part.
