Can this be tightened or is the lock on it's way out?? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum, wheaty!

I am not sure how the Segals hold the thumbturn on. Some locks use a snap ring of some sort, others use a friction fit washer or some other method I have not seen.

Take the part off with the thumbturn and take a look. Locks using a clip/snap ring in a slot can show a lot of wear if the lock is old, if this is the case replace. The clip or a friction washer can work loose also, if this is the case try reseating them and see if it works better, if not replace.

Hopefully this will give you a starting point.

Thanks! I took it off last night and it is still loose, so I'm off to the hardware store.
