I bought a new dvd/surround sound system without realizing that my TV has no audio output. It has the following connections: Video In, L/Mono, R, S-Video and Cable In. I do not have a cable box (get it straight from wall). I heard that I could buy a VCR with audio output. Is there a less redundant way of solving this problem? Thanks for your help.

1) A VCR is a cheap way. Make sure the vcr is stereo.
2) An RF modulator might work.
3) You will not get surround sound from the cable no matter what you use. To get surround sound from cable, you need digital cable service plus a digital audio input into the receiver.
