I have a heat system that keeps cutting off. When I first removed the cover(unit is in closet) I noticed a switch that was making contact with the cover. I pushed the switch and the system started. I noticed the felt on the cover was worn where the switch makes contact. I replaced the felt in that area. The system went down again after the place was heated. I removed the cover again. The switch was protruding. I put the manual thermostat on and the system started with the switch protruding. Is the switch a safety switch? What do you think the problem is? Thanks for any help. The system has coils and blower, water lines and is hooked up for central air with the compressor outside.

I'm unable to find any information on an AquaTherm water heating unit. Can you supply a model number?

My son called me yesterday with a problem that sounds a lot like yours. He was attempting to turn on his Aqua Therm heating system. It would come on and heat for a short period of time and then it kept shutting off and the thermostat had a message that the pump was off. After a lot of hair pulling he finally was lucky enough to contact one of the service men that installs these systems and he was told the following: On most if not all Aqua Therm systems there is a sensor that is attached to the hot water pipe where it comes out of the water heater.(It will be tied, wired or zip tied to the pipe with a wire running from it to the heater) Check to see if that sensor is still making a reasonably firm contact with the hot water pipe. This sensor monitors the temperature of the water running through the pipe and if the temperature drops it shuts off the pump to the heater so you will still have hot water for showers etc. If the sensor is loose then it sends a signal to the pump to shut down because it thinks you are running out of hot water. The service man also told him that in an emergency if the sensor goes bad that he could simply disconnect the wire from the sensor and the heater system would keep the pump working even if the water temp dropped some. If disconnected the heater would not shut down to save the hot water for showers etc.

Once my son found the sensor and did find that the wire tie holding it had become brittle and loose, he reattached the sensor and his system kicked right off and worked fine. You might give at try.

Also if you need an install and users manual for the Aqua Therm Heating System go to the following link and it will take you to the site where you can print off a manual.
