Green background? White horiz. lines??
sounds like you're watching Feely miss THREE STINKIN' FIELD GOALS there, buddy.
Seriously - It sounds, to me, like CRT Guns failing, or power to the guns failing.

So I called a TV repairman and describe what was happening with my set. He tells me it could be a number of things like the power supply, etc. When he sees my TV, he says it wasn't what he expected and it was actually something else. He gives the set a couple of taps on the side and wallah...Problem fixed! He opened it up to see what was loose, but couldn't reproduce the problem. He adjusted the mother/circuit board which he says was most likely the culprit. 60 bucks to tap my TV.... :o

Cold solder joints maybe. If so it will happen again.
