I had new plush style carpet installed and it appears to be shedding. I've tried vacuming the carpet, but the vaccum gets clogged after a while. Is this normal? How many times should it take to get rid of this? The installer suggested sweeping with a corn broom to get much of the residue and then using the vaccum to get the rest?

i guess it's normal because it's happened to me every time. just keep vacuuming & walking on it ~ eventually, it will stop. i don't recall exactly how long it went on.....maybe 2-3 weeks?

Thank you Annette. Should I be concerned about using the corn broom? It appears to be making a difference. I've only just begun.

i think you'd get the same (if not better) results with less effort just using your vacuum with it's fast rotating bristles.

Call the carpet dealer, they will take care of it. Don't smoke your sweeper.
