I have an old John Deere snowblower (Model 522) for which I need a carb. I believe the engine to be a 5 HP Tecumseh but can find no markings on the engine. My local John Deere dealer has no information on this machine. :wall: If someone can suggest where I might find the engine numbers it would be appreciated.

Hello Grady!
The numbers are usually stamped on the engine shroud. If it's a tecumseh, they are probably on the side near the carburetor. Briggs numbers could be on the side or on top near the spark plug. I'm not sure if JD used kawasaki engines on snowblowers, but if it is one, it probably had a label that may have come off with the #s. Kohler too.
