I have a periscope type sheet metal dryer vent that is 3" between the dryer and wall. I would like to lay a towel permanently around/over the vent to decrease the slight dryer smell. It is as secure as should be, but I think this type of vent is not as airtight as the typical elbows.
It is an electric dryer.
Should there be a problem with putting a towel around it permanently?

Could be a fire hazard. Best to work with non-combustible material for what you have in mind. Why not try to see where you are leaking air and seal it with silicone or metallic tape?

We have sealed around the seam. I am thinking I am just real sensitive and plus it is thin sheet metal, so I think it just kind of seeps out a little.
hmmm... what might be non-combustible I can put down there...THere's only a 3" clearance so it's hard to do anything.
