I am wantint to install a programable thermostat. I have a wiring question. The old thermostat has a wire connected to the T terminal. It is for an outside anticipator. The new Honeywell thermostat does not have a terminal for this wire. If I do not connet this wire will it affect the heat pump operation?
I was told that the new electronic thermostats that are designed for heat pumps do thier on a"anticapation" and therefore do not need the one on the trane. Is this correct?
Thanks for your help

What's wrong with the old t-stat??
You are best to set it and forget it on heat pump system.
Heat pump do not recover like gas equipement does..
If you really do need a new t-stat, best to get the Vision Pro installed by the Pro.. You are best to use the outdoor sensor to turn off the heat pump on a very cold day.

The old thermostat quit running the fan when the fan switch was set to AUTO. It would run the fan when switch to ON, but of course runs the fan all of the time.
I was told that the new programmable t-stats designed for heat pumps anticapated the recovery time needed so that they were effective in using the set-back to conserve energy and lower cost.
Thanks for recommending the Vision Pro T-Stat. Will it allow me to connect the outdoor sensor. My serviceman said to just leave it disconnected.
Thanks again,

I sent you a reply back on your pvt msg.
I'd reccomnd the Vision Pro TH8320.. Not knowing what type of sensor is outside, it may need to replaced. I wouild recomnd it if your temp gets below freezing...
