Whirpool washer model number lsv6223awo purchased July 1993. Basic model top loading.
The tub fills, will not agitate, slight burn smell. Will drain, but not spin. Removed agitator and motor shaft did not spin when put on spin cycle. Appreciate any advice. Should I approach this problem from back panel? Need specifics because I know nothing of appliances.

PS read other forums and if someone thinks this has anything to do with a coupler please explain further.

Sounds like a slipping belt if you get that rubber smell. Take a look. Access front of washer to watch.
