Doors and Windows - Andersen Low-e Basement Windows

I Just Installed Andersen Vinyl Basement Windows 2813 They Are New To The Market The Left Side Of All The Windows Are Leaking Air And I Can See Light Coming Between The Gasket. The Head Seal Is Tight, Is This Something I Did Installing Them.

The Anderson basement window #2813 is a pretty small hopper window, measuring only 15 3/8 x 32 1/8". It would be pretty hard to get a window that small out of square, but I suppose that could be a possibility. Check the diagonal dimensions to see if the measurements are the same (measure bottom left to top right, compare with top left to bottom right). If that checks out, you should look at the reveal around the edge of the sash while the window is shut. Is there a larger gap between the sash and frame on the left, when compared to the gap on the right? If so, the pivot hinges might need a bit of adjustment. Or it could be that the window just doesn't center itself very well when it swings closed. It could also be that the gasket is malformed, so you could check that. Other than that, I have no suggestions.

i checked it for sq. it is good the reveal is good, i also moved the top left corner in didn't help moved the whole left side in and out also didn't help all but the left side is good the same side on all 4 windows, two windows are good must be the seal.

It could also be that the sides of the window are "racked". If the left side is not in the same plane as the right side (both plumb) that could cause the window to not seal completely.

Picture it like this: If the sash does not meet the weatherstrip on the bottom left, (when viewed from inside) it's likely that the frame needs to come in on the bottom left. (or conversely, the top right needs to be pushed out.) Check the frame for plumb with a small torpedo level. Compare the left side with the right side. If you push in on the sash on the left side, does it stop the air and light?

i removed one of the windows after checking for rack and plum it was installed correct layed the window on floor making sure it was sq. the left side will not seal could it be 4 windows are bad.

It could be. Remove the sashes and lay them on a perfectly flat surface. Sometimes the wooden frame around the glass will be warped or twisted somewhat. Usually the glass keeps them straight, however. It could be that the sash is warping away from the weatherstrip. Sounds like a real headache for you, sorry to hear about your problems.

i called anderson yesterday and they had a service man in the area he came over about 1 and tried to get it to seal no luck said they where installed correct he made some calls no luck so he went to home depot got thicher gasket works great ran water on the window and no water can in they do have a great sevice dept. and xsleeper thanks for the help.
