I have a Fridgidaire Dryer (FDE546RES1) I found a short on a capasitor (I think) as a blue wire from it was touching the motor. It had a burn mark on the terminal. I placed it back in its bracket and secured it with electrical tape. The dryer now works however it will not shut off unless I open the door. Any ideas?
Thanks,
James

That's a good one. I have worked on many dryers and have yet to come across your problem. Hmmm. Attached to your motor is a centrugal switch. That is how your dryer motor is able to keep running after you release the "start" push button. Sounds to me that you have a problem down there at that switch, connected to the dryer motor. Either it is shot, or you need just to take another careful look down there. Unfortunately, at least with some dryers, you can not buy the centrifugal switch separate from the motor!
Good luck.
