Have an older home. Live in Northern Michigan. Windows are double pane but withaluminum frames. As a result they sweat real bad. Is there anyway I can stop the sweating besides replacing the windows, which are very large. Some kind of treatment for the Aluminum casings, perhaps????? The water is going to rot the sills eventually I suspect.

The thread on "Condensation" contains many helpful suggestion that might help reduce the amount of condensation on your windows, but in short, no- there is nothing you can do to keep your aluminum frames from sweating.

The best thing you could do is keep your drapes open, run a dehumidifier, and either run your furnace blower or position fans to circulate air that could help prevent the windows from accumulating so much condensation.

Aluminum windows are one of the worst when it comes to condensation because any metal will conduct cold readily.
