Hi all,
Don't know if this is the right site for this question, but here goes. I have wood working tools in my garage and would like to invest in a dust collection set-up. Was wondering if it is practical to figure a way to plumb it so the o'l lady can vaccuum the house too. (I realize I'm on thin ice now) Someone out there might have done this. Any ideas?

Interesting idea, jim. Theoretically all you would need to do would be to tie in the whole-house vacuum piping into the dust collection ducting. You would need blast gates, of course, to close off all the other inlets in order to use the vacuum function. Two drawbacks I can see; (1) Plumbing the house for the whole-house vacuum. Although I know it is do-able, it's generally done during new home construction, and (2) I'm thinking you won't get enough raw suction power from the dust collector to do a decent job of vacuuming. I think the whole-house equipment has lots more suction can you could ever generate with a dust collector.
