Exterior knob pulled out. It is keyed in center. No set screw. Took 2 screws out on interior side, see no setscrew inside. There is a spring around shaft of knob.Put all back together, knob still pulls loose. Any advice would be appreciated. Brand name on door faceplate: Weiser.

With the Weisers I am familiar with, it is time to get a new one. These are a relatively low grade lock and what you describe is not unheard of when they wear out-especially with a lot of use or hard pulling (sticky door or door closer)

If you want to keep your same key/brand, many stores offer rekeying when you purchase the lock. Have them do it before you take it home.

If you are looking to try something different, Schlage makes a good residential lock. Try a Kwikset if you want to stay with the low end.

Thanks for the quick reply and good info. I kinda thought a new lock might be the solution.

You are welcome. You were thinking correctly-most failures in a low end lock are solved by replacement. Assuming your door has a proper standard hole prep, a replacement should go smoothly.
