I used the new Sony DVDirect VRD-VC20 using Nero software to create a slide show. When read by my Apex PD 840 portable DVD player, the slides skip *very* quickly, approx 2 or 3 per *second*! The portable DVD player does not have a "slow" button. The slide show was burned using 4X as the speed, which Apex thought might fix the problem. I had already burned on 12X and 8X with the same results. The slide show works fine on the big Onkyo DVD player. I am wondering if a slide show format is not supported by the Apex portable... I haven't tried making a movie yet to see if the portable can read that, but will give it a try today.
Anyone out there have any thoughts? Many thanks in advance.

Please, the APEX support people didn't really think the record speed effected the palyback?
Yes, I think the APEX has a problem with your media.
Did you burn a CD as a VCD? A DVD as a VCD? or what?

Bob, thanks for responding. It looks like the only choices to make a slide show from the Nero software are VCD or SVCD (super VCD). I am just learning this stuff so it's still slightly confusing. I have listed part of the log file below, if that's of any use for clarification. The disc has 12 titles, the first one being listed toward the bottom of the log file. From what I see myself typing, my disc is more CD format (MPEG-2) rather than DVD. The Apex DVD player obviously plays CD and DVD, but apparently plays what it considers a CD and a much faster rate than a DVD??? Am I on the right track in my thinking? (No puns intended....) Why would my big DVD/CD player be able to present the slide show properly when the portable didn't?

The problem is with the Apex player. You might try a different brand of cd and make another vcd.
