Hi,

It's my first time cleaning an oven. My sublet has a gas oven that looks like it's from the 60's, or earlier. I have Easy-Off Fume Free that I'm going to use to clean it. I've read that you shouldn't spray this stuff on electrical components or the pilot light. What can I cover the pilot light with so I won't accidentally spray and easy-off on it?

Hello chumpy and Welcome to the Do It Yourself Web Site and my Gas Appliances topic.

Blow out the pilot flame and cover the entire assembly with a damp towel. Cover the light bulb. Unplug the appliance or turn off the electrical power. Do not spray the pilot assembly even after it is covered. Avoid that area.

Read and follow instructions on the can exactly as instructed by the product maker. Wear protective eye and hand wear.
